Wyoming Valley Montessori School sees children as naturally eager to learn. The school, together with its families, builds the foundation for a lifetime of learning. It does this by providing a respectful Montessori environment that supports children’s natural desire to learn. Teachers guide children to fulfill their potential for intellectual, social, and ethical development. This is the work of the school, and it has been since the beginning.

In the rooms, children learn at their own pace with engaging materials and encouragement from teachers. The environment is respectful, so children know they are cared about and respected. They learn how to learn, not just what to learn. A hundred-year outcome-proven curriculum underlies the work, though you will see it in small moments, not slogans. Children spend each day with enthusiastic fellow students and creative, dedicated teachers.

Teachers sit at the child's level rather than above them. They observe first, then offer a lesson when the child is ready for it. Children choose much of their work, and teachers guide them through it in small groups or one to one. The room is set up so children can reach what they need and return it when they are done.
