Kindergarten students at Wyoming Valley Montessori School marked the start of the holiday season with a reenactment of the first Thanksgiving. They performed for their parents and the student body, sang seasonal songs, and shared a holiday feast prepared by staff and parents. Children from many towns took part, including Forty Fort, Nanticoke, Kingston, Falls, Shavertown, Wilkes-Barre, Drums, Hunlock Creek, Moosic, Plains Township, Edwardsville, and Hanover Township.
What this looks like in practice
In a Montessori kindergarten, children often prepare something real for an audience: a song, a retelling, a small performance. The work takes weeks. They learn lines, practice timing, and help make simple props or food. On the day, they stand together in front of parents and classmates. What parents see is not a polished show but a room of children who know their part and carry it through.
That kind of preparation stays with a child. A parent may notice it at home — your child humming the songs weeks later, or retelling the story at dinner. The practical benefit is confidence built by doing, not by being told. Children learn to wait their turn, speak in front of others, and finish something they started. Those habits carry into the next classroom and the next year.
